Third installation of this popular post comparing Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV) and Vmware vSphere Hypervisor. This version is based on Nutanix AOS 5.5 version. Earlier versions of this post can found by clicking following links: 4.6 and 5.0.

There are still some use cases where using Vmware with Nutanix platform is required. But the list is getting smaller and smaller and there are less and less reasons to pay hypervisor licensing fees.

AHV vs Vmware, AOS 5.0 edition

Few months ago I compared Vmware against Acropolis Hypervisor. At that time I listed ten use cases or features where Vmware was better or the only option as Hypervisor in Nutanix environment.

Now that Nutanix is about to release new version of their operating system, AOS 5.0, it is time to revisit this topic again.
